Lilya recently arrived in San Francisco after spending a decade in Boston studying with Amira Jamal, Najmat and Melina of the Daughters of Rhea. Her style is a fusion of these teachers, drawing heavily on American Cabaret-style belly dance. Lilya was a member of Amira Jamal's troupe, the Jewels of Jamal, and also worked as a soloist at many of the Arabic clubs and restaurants in and around Boston. Notably, Lilya was a regular dancer at The Middle East, Karoun, Caprice and Tangierino.
Lilya is known for her high-energy dance style, as well as her balancing skills using either swords or a large tray of candles. She has taught workshops on the use of props in belly dance, and has performed at hundreds of private parties and functions in the Boston area. Lilya has years of experience providing entertainment for fundraisers, large functions, small birthday parties, and bachelorette parties, and will happily tailor her performance to her clients' needs.
